"I made this painting for a very simple reason: to experience the direct gaze of perhaps the most beloved deity who is closest to the hearts of almost all Tibetans, Mongolians, Nepalese, and other cultures across the Himalayas that follow Tibetan Buddhism. Traditionally, Dolma Jangu (Green Tara), is depicted in full body form, situated in complex landscape settings, often with twenty other manifestations of herself, and or in groupings with other Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, thus making it difficult to connect with her visually, especially if one is bowing down in front of a Thangka as one might at a temple or monastery.
